S.M.A.R.T.S. Stimulation Monitoring and Reservoir Testing Software™ Cementing Mode
Many of our clients use Smarts32 to monitor their on-site cementing processes real time. Smarts32 allows enough format flexibility, via its custom screens, to effectively monitor the following.
The quality control design versus actual pumping parameters such as totals, rates densities, and pressures.
High pressure and low pressure reservoir conditions at the shoe.
Via the use of specific cementing keywords, all densimeter readings are used in units of density throughout all of the calculations.
Total depths can be changed on the fly to check pressures, densities and rate at specific depth locations.
Currently the cementing mode does not allow the annular flow to be modeled. However, we are in the process of adding this capability as well as many others to the Smarts32 cementing mode. Guydon Software Services was the first to bring a commercially available cement design program with free fall analysis to the P.C. market in 1986. The product Cempace™, is no longer marketed. However the Cempace™ models are the basis for the Smarts32 cementing modifications.
Currently Smarts32 in the cementing mode can graphically as well as digitally display the following.
The surface and calculated shoe pressures.
The injection and return rates.
The various densities being monitored.
Stage fluid fronts tops and bottoms down to the shoe.
User defined low and high pressure and rate alerts.
Ability to trace a marker from the surface to the shoe via the well schematic graphics.
Custom plot and/or text display of any of the Smarts32 calculated derived channels as well as raw channels being received.
Ability to vary friction models per stage fluid type as well as percentile each stages percent friction. This can also be done on the fly during monitoring or replay.
All of Smarts32’s reporting and replay capabilities are available in the cementing mode.
All of the various graphics and text screen capabilities of the Smarts32 package can be utilized when monitoring the cementing process. A number of the canned plots and text screens are automatically modified towards the particulars of a cementing operation. Below are a few examples of some of the graphics available while in this mode.
Future capabilities to be added to the Smarts32 cement monitoring mode by the summer of 2010 are as follows.
The ability to circulate back up through the backside (annulus) .
Continuous weak and high pressure calculations at user defined depths.
Continuous critical rate and velocity at user defined depths.
ECD (equivalent circulating densities) at each of the user defined weak points.
A user defined tracer fluid position that tracks both its lead and tail throughout pumping.
Design Free fall analyses defining start and end of free fall as well as affects on return rate in relation to actual free fall events.
We are targeting to release this fuller cement monitoring version in the summer of 2010. Below is a specific graph to be added to the Smarts32 cementing mode. Graphics will also be provided for weak and high pressure zones, as well as tracer fluid front and tail within the annulus.
